Your First Visit — What Happens

Your first appointment at Taproot Chiropractic is unlike anything you've experienced at a typical chiropractor's office. We take time to understand your full story, assess your nervous system objectively, and build a care plan around what the data actually shows — not assumptions.

Plan for approximately 45–60 minutes. Here's what to expect.

Step 1: Consultation & Your Story

We start by listening. Dr. Jennifer will ask about your health history, your concerns, what you've already tried, and what goals matter most to you or your child. This isn't a rushed intake form — it's a real conversation designed to uncover the patterns that other practitioners may have missed.

For parents bringing a child, we'll want to hear about pregnancy, birth, early development, feeding, sleep, behavior, and anything that's been weighing on you. Every detail helps us build a clearer picture of your child's neurological story.

Step 2: Brain-Based Examination & INSiGHT Scans

This is where Taproot's approach diverges from traditional chiropractic.

We use INSiGHT neurological scanning technology — an advanced, non-invasive system that objectively measures how your nervous system is functioning. The scans answer two critical questions:

Are there inefficiencies in how the brain is receiving, processing, and sending information? Using surface EMG, thermal scanning, and heart rate variability (HRV), we can see exactly where your nervous system is under stress, where communication is breaking down, and how your body is adapting.

Where are you developmentally, and what patterns is your nervous system using to cope? This is especially important for children — it tells us whether their nervous system has the foundation to support focus, behavior, sleep, immune function, and emotional regulation.

The scans are completely safe for newborns, children, pregnant women, and adults. There's no radiation, no discomfort, and no guesswork.

Step 3: Your Report of Findings

After your examination, Dr. Jennifer will sit down with you to review everything we discovered. You'll see your scan results, understand what they mean for your health (or your child's development), and learn exactly how we can help.

This is where your personalized care plan comes together — including recommended visit frequency, specific adjustment approach, milestones we'll track, and how we'll use follow-up scans to measure progress objectively over time.

No pressure, no scare tactics — just a clear, honest conversation about what we're seeing and what's possible.

Step 4: Your First Adjustment

If appropriate, you'll receive your first adjustment at this visit. Dr. Jennifer uses gentle, precise techniques tailored to your age, condition, and nervous system needs.

For infants, adjustments use fingertip pressure — about the same force you'd use to test the ripeness of a tomato. For children, adjustments are playful and age-appropriate. For adults and pregnant moms, techniques are adapted to your body and comfort level.

What to Bring & How to Prepare

  • Comfortable clothing you can move in

  • Any relevant medical records, imaging, or previous provider notes

  • A list of medications or supplements (for you or your child)

  • Your questions — write them down so you don't forget

For babies and young children, bring them during a time they're typically calm and fed. And don't worry if they fuss — Dr. Jennifer has adjusted thousands of little ones and knows how to work with whatever mood they show up in.

  • INSiGHT scans are a non-invasive technology that objectively measures nervous system function through surface EMG (muscle tension patterns), thermal scanning (autonomic regulation), and heart rate variability (stress response and adaptability). They're safe for all ages including newborns and pregnant women.
